JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

TITLE: FINANCE MANAGER

 

Candidate:

We are looking for a person who has the ability to monitor our company’s finances, as well as perform data analysis and advise management on ideas to maximize profits. Able to perform tasks that are specific to the organization and the industry it operates in. A person of distinct integrity, committed team player, assisting in making decisions that affect the organization, a task for which analytical ability and excellent communication is required.

Role: 

 

The role of the financial manager, particularly in business, is changing in response to technological advances that have significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to produce financial reports.

 

Financial managers typically do the following:

 

  1. Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, and forecasts.
  2. Identify and develop organisational performance indicators such as financial performance, Product market performance and Shareholders’ returns.
  3. Monitor financial details to ensure that legal requirements are met.
  4. Supervise employees who do financial reporting and budgeting.
  5. Review company financial reports and seek ways to reduce costs.
  6. Analyze market trends to find opportunities for expansion or for acquiring or investing in potential businesses.
  7. Help management make financial decisions by providing basis for same. 

 

Reports to the General Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance departments including collecting, interpreting, and reviewing financial information, creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
  2. Develop regular and up-to-date reports on the 12 key financial performance indicators of an organization.
  3. Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions).
  4. Reporting to management and stakeholders, and providing advice how the company and future business decisions might be impacted.
  5. Producing accurate financial reports and information as well as developing long-term business plans based on these reports.
  6. Developing strategies that work to minimize financial risk.
  7. Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
  8. Analyzing market trends and competitors.
  9. Advising on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take.
  10. Manage the preparation of the company’s budget. 
  11. Reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets.
  12. Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
  13. Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting. 
  14. Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  15. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  16. Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
  17. Manage the accounts department, supervise and delegate/share responsibilities accordingly.

 

  Requirements:

  • ICAN Qualified.
  • Appreciable relevant years of experience in the Finance unit of a structured organization.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Matured, advanced in the use of accounting software e.g Sage.
  • Working knowledge of the latest accounting policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrable analytical thinking and business insight.
