Job Description

Job Title: Java / JEE Developer

Location: Dublin 2, primarily based off site at the post holders preferred location, with occasional (maximum of 2 days per month) attendance on an

ad-hoc basis at the office

Contract / Permanent: 6 Months with further extension or permanent

Start date: March 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Experience Level Required:

It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed has the equivalent of:

Senior level experience (i.e., has >7 years’ experience) directly relevant Java/JEE experience.

Minimum of 5 years’ work experience using:

• Java 5 – 17 (Language and platform)

• J2EE packaging and deployment

• Groovy (Java language derivative)

• Grails 2 to 5 (Opinionated web framework built on Spring Boot) Minimum 3 years’ work experience with:

• Administering Apache and Tomcat.

It is a mandatory requirement, that the Resource proposed hold the following qualifications or equivalents:

Qualification at Level 8 on the NFQ major award (i.e. honors degree), or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology,

Mathematics or other relevant field.

• Building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications.

• Programming of Java components.

• Coding in adherence to the standards of the application in question.

• Maintaining, tuning and repairing applications in order to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications.

• Performing preventive maintenance activities.

• Providing user support.

• Integration of technical and application components to meet business requirements.

• Completing assigned tasks related to phases of development lifecycle of enterprise applications within given scope and timeframe

requirements.

• Incident resolution.

• Good communication, teamwork, mentoring and interpersonal skills, excellent documentation and reporting skills, presentation and

demonstration skills, attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving ability and time management.

The following Experience/Competencies/Skillsets are applicable to this Role.

1. Software Development

• Experience of developing software applications based on the Java 5-17, Apache/Tomcat in an Agile development environment.

• Experience of working with a structured software development process.

• Experience using Grails 2-5 including Groovy.

• Experience of building data-driven applications essential, including relational databases and static file-based data (e.g. JSON).

• Experience working with web services, including REST APIs.

2. Requirements Analysis and Software Design

• Experience with developing user requirements for new software functionality including through user stories and converting requirements

into software designs.

3. Platforms

• Experience using Linux, Ubuntu, Windows Server and Application Development.
