Linux Systems Administrator

Job Description

Leading Global Solutions Provider has a long-term contract opportunity for a Linux Systems Administrator based in Dublin City Centre. You will be First point of contact for identifying, prioritising and resolving RedHat Linux incidents, both production and non-production environments. You will be Deploying, supporting and troubleshooting issues with RHEL systems on premise and in Microsoft Azure. You will be maintaining a good understanding of the VMware (ESXi 6.5) platform to troubleshoot server issues effectively. You will be automating and administering RedHat Sys Admin tasks using Ansible/Puppet, Python, Bash and/or Korn Shell scripting.

• First point of contact for identifying, prioritising and resolving RedHat Linux incidents, both production and non-production environments.
• Supporting and maintaining Linux environments, to ensure 24x7 availability.
• Deploying, supporting and troubleshooting issues with RHEL systems on premise and in Microsoft Azure
• Maintaining a good understanding of the VMware (ESXi 6.5) platform to troubleshoot server issues effectively.
• Administering RedHat Enterprise Linux 6, 7 and 8 OS installs, patching & troubleshooting
• Hosting and supporting SAP instances in a RedHat Linux environment and assisting the SAP Application team as required
• Hosting and supporting DB2 and Oracle Databases - Only basic DB2 & Oracle
• Administering RedHAT Linux Satellite Server
• Software implementation, trouble-shooting and application management for RedHat Linux
• Adhering to best practice in relation to Cyber initiatives/improvements.
• Implementing high-availability and disaster recovery in relation to RedHat Linux configurations
• Automating and administering RedHat Sys Admin tasks using Ansible/Puppet, Python, Bash and/or Korn Shell scripting
• Support of Linux networking, routing technologies
• Manage small/medium projects/work activities or sections of larger projects and interact with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met - PL
• Provide In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware and Software Technologies
• On-Call / Standby would be required
• Senior person would be expected to give guidance on technologies to other members of the team as required
