GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Plant Electrician is generally responsible for the installation, trouble shooting, maintenance and repair and proper upkeep of all electrical systems, equipment, machines and facilities including auxiliaries for new and existing installations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
2.1.1 Assists the Electrical Engineer in carrying out the preventive maintenance of vital equipment such as
high pressure fans, blower machines, air compressors, motor controllers, switchboards, switch gears and other electrical facilities the failure of which can cause the stoppage of milling operations
2.1.2 Assists the Electrical Engineer carry out jobs scheduled during mill shutdown, such as installations or renovations to improve milling plant facilities
2.1.3 Troubleshoots malfunctioning machines and makes priority repairs to minimize downtime
CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE:
2.2.1 Assists the shift Electrical Engineer during troubleshooting and repair of vital equipment used in milling operations
2.2.2 Assists in the cleaning and conditioning of electrical machines and equipment and replacement of defective parts such as motors, and reconditioning of winding
2.2.3 Installs parts, repairs defective parts and repaints rusted parts
2.2.4 Carries out jobs for new installations or renovations to improve milling facilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
1.1 Graduate of a 3-year course on Electrical Technology or equivalent vocational course
1.2 Registered Master Electrician
1.3 Must have clear understanding of operating principles of motors, transformers, generators
1.4 Must have clear understanding of the descriptions and functions of different electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, semiconductors, contactors and relays.
1.5 Knowledgeable in wirings and troubleshooting of industrial controls. Basic knowledge in instrumentation, automation and PLC.
1.6 Knowledgeable on the use of common electrical testing and monitoring instruments or apparatus such as multi testers, thermal scanners, voltmeters, ammeters, energy meters etc.
1.7 Knowledgeable on the use of standard tools and equipment for electrical such as pipe benders, crimpers, bearing heaters etc.
1.8 Three (3) years relevant experience in the field of wiring installation of residential, commercial and industrial projects including maintenance and repair of equipment and machineries. Experience in Flour Mill set-up is an advantage.
1.9 Able to draw, read and interpret circuit diagrams
1.10 Effective in written and verbal communication skills
