Power BI Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Engineer to design, develop, and maintain dynamic data visualizations and business intelligence reports. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data modeling, report building, and transforming complex data sets into actionable insights using Power BI. This role will involve close collaboration with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and ensure that data solutions meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support business decision-making.
• Gather and analyze requirements from business users to translate them into effective data models and interactive reports.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources to ensure data consistency and accuracy in reports.
• Optimize Power BI datasets and queries to improve performance and ensure efficient data processing.
• Implement row-level security and data access control within Power BI for secure reporting.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and user guides.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data pipelines and warehouses align with reporting needs.
• Conduct regular testing and troubleshooting to validate data accuracy and resolve issues.
• Stay updated on the latest Power BI features and best practices to continuously improve report functionality and user experience.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
• Strong knowledge of SQL for data extraction and transformation.
• Experience with ETL processes and working with data from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and relational databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS) and data visualization best practices.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as Azure Synapse or AWS Redshift.
• Microsoft Power BI certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
