Senior Business Consultant

Job Description

Overview:

The Senior Business Consultant works independently taking full responsibility for a certain area within Business Consulting. Primary role in Business Consulting working as a member of the consulting services organisation with a customer-focused approach using different software solutions to provide expertise in a particular domain.

Responsibilities: 

• Consults on projects of moderate scope and sometimes complex assignments. 
• Makes recommendations and collaborates with clients to help achieve their business objectives regarding efficiency, productivity, and compliance. 
• Maintains awareness of opportunities provided and makes use of new and emerging technologies to address challenges or to enable new ways of working to add value to the client. 
• Identifies and assesses risks to the success of the project. Agrees the project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
• Builds reporting/status updates and assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, identifying potential benefits and available options for consideration. 
• Analysis’s data and effectively presents to clients to support proposed solutions. Able to challenge client hypotheses and solutions with robust data. Understands business risk in own area. 
• Actively participates and delivers on own objectives within projects, helping and leading team members and providing input into team project planning. 
• Works with internal and external customers to analyse the needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.
• Owns the product roadmap.
• Develops scope and defines backlog items (epic/features/user stories) that guide the Agile software development team.
• Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.
• Collaborates with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product.
• Accountable for the created product(s), delivering in the product model and communicating the product needs with business partners.

Qualifications: 

Essential:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

Desirable:

• Project management/ Product Owner knowledge 
• Additional course or certification in Business Consulting 
• Certified functional consultant in any one specific domain

Technical: 

• Intermediate theoretical knowledge in business consulting methodologies and has awareness of new and emerging technologies and developments.
• Has good applications/technology knowledge, building on specialist domain knowledge and has practical experience of tools and frameworks required to deliver. 
• Good understanding of the business consulting lifecycle. 
• Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word. 
• A proven record in analysing data and effectively presenting to clients to support proposed solutions. Able to challenge client hypotheses and solutions with robust data.
• Deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.
• Knows how to define the product roadmap.
• Product Management.
